For many people, an acne breakout is a cause for concern. A skin condition that results from the overproduction of oil by the oil glands of the skin, acne does not only affect the physique, it can batter the psyche as well.

    Causes of Acne:

Acne is a mystery, even to skin experts. What really causes acne is not very clear. The general idea is that there is an overproduction of oil by the oil glands. But why it happens in the first place can be triggered by stress, diet, and hormones.

Stress has been identified as a predisposing factor to the development of acne. For whatever reasons, a great number of people who develop acne are found to have high stress levels at the same time. One unfortunate thing about stress is that it is present in our daily lives which means that everyone can be a good candidate for acne breakouts.

Diet can also cause acne breakouts. Foods rich in carbohydrates and sugar may affect your blood sugar levels, and this can set off the inflammation process, resulting in the formation of acne. Making the wrong food choices can trigger or aggravate acne breakouts, too.

Hormones, too, may be responsible for the maturation of the oil glands in our skin.

It is very essential to know the cause of acne in order to know how to prevent acne and not let it ruin your day.

    Some Tips To Prevent Acne:

While anyone can develop acne, the good news is that it can be prevented through:

Exercise. For as long as you're not overdoing it, exercise is the best way to reduce stress. Make time to exercise regularly because as you sweat, you are in fact cleaning the pores of your skin, promoting blood circulation, and regulating hormonal activity. After each exercise, shower off to get rid of that toxin-filled sweat. If you don't have time for a full shower, at least clean off the sweat as best you can.

Diet: As mentioned earlier, diet can trigger acne breakouts, but the irony is, it can also be used in the prevention of acne. This is one thing that can be challenging for most, though, especially if we talk about splurging on fatty foods or foods which boost the sugar level beyond its boundaries. Keeping your impulses for food in control is all worth the trouble; it is such a small price to pay in exchange for beautiful, acne-free skin. Drinking lots of water, say about 1-2 Liters of water per day, to cleanse the body, is also recommended; so is consuming fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals that help in maintaining a naturally clean and healthy skin.

Hygiene: Bacteria, when coupled with hormones and stress usually ignite the creation of these acne breakouts. Keeping yourself clean would contribute greatly in decreasing the occurrence (or appearance) of these unwanted self-mutilating ornaments on your face. If bacteria and your normal floras are kept to their normal level, there should be no reason why you would not be able to control these breakouts.
