• How The Sun Can Actually Help You Get Rid Of Acne

Whatever you want to call it, pimples, zits or acne it is one of the most frustrating skin conditions that almost everyone at one time experiences. Those who have acne probably turn to a lot of different treatments to try and get rid of it, but none of them are 100% effective, nor are any of them 100% side effect free either.

This is why some people try to go with the cheapest and most natural of all of the treatments. That would be the sun. How the sun works is that it dries up the oily skin and it does kill the bacteria that can help cause acne. However, this too is only a short term solution and it probably has the worst side effects and that is long lasting damage to skin that can lead to cancer.

Acne will include whiteheads, blackheads, cysts and pustules and people can get a combination of all of them especially in their teen years. Usually this condition will clear up as we move into adulthood but for some adults it continues and can be mild to extreme. Most often you will find the acne on the forehead, chin and cheeks but it can also be found on the back, shoulders and neck.

No matter what you've been told about different foods causing acne, you've been told wrong. For instance hamburgers and pizza don't cause acne and neither does chocolate unless you are allergic to it. What causes it is the fact that a person has overactive sebaceous glands. They will produce a oily substance which is called sebum. This is what makes the skin soft. Too much of this will clog the pores along with the dead skin and this can create the acne because bacteria will begin to form and cause the different kinds of blemishes on the skin.

A lot of evidence has pointed to the sun as a cure for the acne people get because the ultraviolet light has a way of killing bacteria. But as said before, this is merely temporary. It was discovered in a seven week experiment that acne disappeared with extended exposure to the sun. However, the long term effects of the sun with the chance of cancer could outweigh the short term benefits of getting rid of the acne.

If you happen to be acne prone, you need to realize that although stress does not cause the acne it can be very instrumental in being a trigger in making the breakouts worse. You may notice that if you go out and do things that relieve your stress that the acne will start to clear up. So this is something that you might consider instead of running off to the beach ever time your skin breaks out.

If you are serious about using the sun to cure yourself of acne understand that the sun can also irritate your skin if you get too much of it and this could simply make the outbreak worse. So it's important to understand, just like anything, do this in moderation. And remember, you may get rid of your acne with this treatment only to end up with skin cancer later on in life.
